PRESS RELEASE / SEPTEMBER 2025

Canada Music Council™ announces early-stage plans for Canada Music Forum.

Proposed national forum would bring together executives, leaders, artists and investors to examine the business, investment and future of Canadian music.

CANADA, September 2025 — Canada Music Council™ today announced early-stage plans to develop Canada Music Forum, a future national convening designed to bring together music-industry executives, institutional leaders, artists and investors around the systems shaping the next era of Canadian music.

The proposed Forum is being developed as an executive and industry platform rather than a conventional consumer festival. Its early-stage agenda is expected to examine music business growth, rights and intellectual property, live music infrastructure, technology and artificial intelligence, capital formation, audience development, export markets and the long-term competitiveness of Canadian-owned music businesses.

A room designed around decision-makers and creators

The concept is intended to create productive exchange between people who shape different parts of the music economy. Executives and investors bring perspectives on scale, capital and enterprise value. Artists and creative leaders bring direct experience of changing production, discovery and career economics. Industry operators and institutions bring knowledge of rights, venues, policy, technology and market infrastructure.

Canada Music Council™ expects the Forum concept to prioritize focused discussions, research-led briefings and structured connection over high-volume programming.

Leadership

Mikhail Farquharson, Chairman of Canada Music Council™, is leading the Council’s strategic direction for the early-stage initiative. Development will proceed in phases, with the Council evaluating format, partners, locations, programming priorities and participation models before any event date is confirmed.

Early-stage status

No event date, venue, speaker roster, sponsorship program or registration process has been announced. The Council will publish confirmed information through its official website and press-release channel as planning advances.
