Mandate

A business and cultural platform for Canadian music.

Canada’s music economy is built by artists, songwriters, composers, producers, managers, labels, publishers, live-music operators, technology companies, educators and cultural institutions. The Council brings these perspectives into a common institutional platform.

Our focus is practical: stronger professional capability, clearer industry information, better cross-sector connections and durable pathways for Canadian music to build audiences at home and internationally.

Canadian music

Local scenes. National infrastructure. Global ambition.

Canadian music operates across distinct regional, English-language, French-language and Indigenous creative communities, while competing in a global market shaped by streaming platforms, touring economics, rights systems and rapid technological change.

The Council’s role is to create useful connective infrastructure around that complexity—not to replace the organizations already serving artists and industry, but to strengthen shared knowledge and collaboration.
