PRESS RELEASE / APRIL 10, 2026
Canada Music Council™ and Canadian AI™ Announce Strategic Partnership to Support Emerging Technology Across Canada’s Music Industry.
Collaboration will explore artificial intelligence, digital systems and emerging technologies that can support creators, music businesses and long-term sector development.
TORONTO, Ontario — April 10, 2026 — Canada Music Council™ and Canadian AI™ today announced a strategic partnership focused on exploring and supporting emerging technologies relevant to Canada’s evolving music industry.
The collaboration will bring together Canada Music Council™’s focus on music-industry development, sector knowledge and convening with Canadian AI™’s work in enterprise artificial intelligence, responsible AI, technology and implementation. The organizations intend to examine practical opportunities where artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies may strengthen creator tools, music-business operations, digital infrastructure, rights administration, audience development and industry innovation.
Supporting responsible innovation in music
Artificial intelligence is increasingly influencing how music is created, distributed, discovered, marketed and managed. At the same time, the sector continues to navigate important questions involving intellectual property, creator attribution, rights, data, commercial models and the responsible use of new technology.
The partnership is intended to support informed experimentation and industry dialogue rather than prescribe a single technology model. Areas of exploration may include responsible AI practices for music organizations, emerging creator technologies, workflow automation, data and digital infrastructure, research initiatives, professional education and industry briefings.
“Canada’s music industry has always evolved alongside technology. Our focus is to help ensure that creators, executives and music businesses have a meaningful voice in how the next generation of technology is understood and applied.”
Mikhail Farquharson
Chairman, Canada Music Council™
“Artificial intelligence is becoming part of the operating environment for every major industry. This collaboration creates an opportunity to explore practical, responsible ways emerging technology can support Canada’s music ecosystem while keeping governance, creators and long-term value in view.”
Ian Dela Cruz
Founder & CEO, Canadian AI™
Areas of collaboration
Initial areas of collaboration are expected to include research and industry education, responsible AI and governance, emerging music technology, digital workflows and infrastructure, and opportunities to connect technology leaders with artists, executives and music-industry organizations.
Specific projects, programs or commercial initiatives will be announced separately if and when they are confirmed.
